SHIBUYA GAIGO GAKUIN NEWS

Tokyo State of Emergency

January 13, 2021

We hope you are enjoying your first lesson of the January 2021 term!
As you all may already know, the Japanese Government has confirmed and declared a State of Emergency.
Please kindly refer to the following article for your reference:  https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20210107_42/

Also, as a reminder regarding the United Kingdom, it is not possible to enter Japan if you are in or visited the UK in the last 14 days prior to your arrival in Japan.
Since 1st October 2020, foreign nationals have been permitted to newly enter Japan from (in principle) any country/region provided they meet the requirements of the Global Residence Track, i.e. provided a host company/organization can guarantee that disease control measures will be followed. However, from 24th December (Japan Standard Time), foreign nationals will not be permitted to travel from the UK and newly enter Japan under this scheme, for the time being. Specifically, anyone holding a visa for Japan which says “EX-R” in the Remarks section will not be able to enter Japan using this visa if they have been in the UK in the previous 14 days.

Until further notice, we will not be able to accept visa applications based on the Global Residence Track scheme, and any applications which we have accepted will take a considerable amount of time to be processed.   If you are planning to visit the UK or currently reside there or are departing from there to enter Japan, we advise you to check the Japanese Embassy in the  UK to be well informed and updated.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.
